Lyon Air Museum Partners with Newport-Mesa Sixth grade curriculum launches in September
General William Lyon’s passions for preserving the greatest generation in aviation and for youth education are the driving forces behind Lyon Air Museum. As a result, aviation history will be brought to life for students throughout the Newport Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD).
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12 A-26 DAY: OUR BIGGEST-EVER FLY DAY
Mark your calendars to experience the sheer power and majesty of the A-26 attack bomber — the fastest aircraft in the Lyon Museum collection. With peak speeds of 355 MPH and a service ceiling of 22,000 feet, no Museum aircraft is more impressive.
The A-26 is scheduled to take flight on Saturday, February 12 at noon.

Lyon Air Museum has joined forces with Families Forward, an Irvine-based nonprofit organization, to support the group’s annual Holidays Gift Drive for local families in need. The goal is to provide gifts— toys, books, games, gas and grocery cards, etc.—to bring thousands of children and their parents a Happy Holidays.

MILITARY TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT IN RARE FLIGHT ON ‘C-47 DAY’
SANTA ANA, Calif., Nov. 16, 2010—The Douglas C-47 Dakota “Willa Dean” military transport aircraft, one of the most spectacular planes in Lyon Air Museum’s collection, will take to the air at 12 noon on “C-47 Day,” Sat., Dec. 11, 2010. The Museum is located at John Wayne Airport.
