Available in two body styles, a coupe or convertible, the Lincoln Continental design was introduced in 1940, just prior to the onset of World War II. The design was modern, elegant, and slightly European with a long front bonnet that gracefully concealed a potent V12 engine. On the exterior, very little chrome or trim was used, keeping the look simple and clean, while the interior boasted amenities one would expect in a luxury vehicle. After the war, production continued, with no changes occurring until 1948.
